It is really sad that there is so much turmoil in the world because of religion. The West has come out of the grips of religion but in many parts of the world religion is still ruling and impacting the state. It is time for the world community to think about this issue very seriously so that human rights of every one are respected and protected.

One cannot run a country, only on religious basis. Christians are treated bad all over the world. Look what is happening in India. There are religious fanatics every where. These people hide behind the curtains of religion and try to run a country. Christianity teaches us to love thy enemy. But on the other hand it also tells us. “Lead us not into temptation and deliver us from evil” Time has come to pray for everyone, so the Lord protects us from evil and also to change the heart of those who are against us………….Christ said, “FATHER FORGIVE THEM FOR THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY DO”.

Thanks NS for your comments. I also hope that human rights groups raise their voice in support of Junaid and I hope he gets justice.

Thanks Harry for your comments. You are right in saying that religion has always tried to block the progress in the areas of science and technology. The history of the world is replete with innumerable inhumane acts of persecution and violence in the name of religion. Nevertheless, the West and several secular democracies have succeeded in breaking the shackles of religion.they have thrown religion out of their parliaments. The countries of the Middle East and a few countries of Asia and Africa need to become secular democracies. I agree with you that liberal and secular education is the need of the hour. There is a big question mark on the quality and standard of education in Pakistan.

My sympathies are with Junaid Hafeez. The helpless young scholar is languishing in jail for no crime against humanity. Who will return the years of his life that he spent in captivity. I hope the human rights organizations of the world will raise voice in support of Junaid Hafeez.

Myself I have experienced Catholism being backward in so many ways in science and technology e.g. prenatal research.
Obviously islam being more of an extremist but it’s also a very loving religion too. It shows up being extremistainly because how the west as portrayed it and thus here are the consequences.
Personally I see general education being the answer to solving these problems in Pakistan for the time being.
