Happy New Year
The old Year is ending and a new year is taking birth. People all over the world are bidding adieu to 2018. As the clock strikes twelve at midnight of December 31, everybody will say farewell to 2018 and welcome 2019. There will be joy and jubilation.
New year brings new resolutions. People make promises to improve their lives. Some want to get rid of unwanted habits such as smoking, others want to lose weight or eat healthy foods. The list of resolutions is unending. Some people succeed whereas others fail in achieving their desired goal. Research studies show that 88% people do not succeed in keeping their resolutions.
It is better to make a resolution which is easily achievable. The success will reinforce our efforts to try our luck with more difficult resolutions in successive years. Why don’t we choose a resolve that benefits all humanity?
There are people in the world who are deprived of so many needs of life. There are children whose plates are empty. They don’t have shelter, clothes and medicines. They are denied education. There are people who face discrimination and are persecuted because of their faith, class or some other reasons. Many people are unable to join their community to celebrate their cultural or religious festivals.
The social media displays so many stories, pictures and videos of persecution, oppression, discrimination, violence and aggression against weaker communities. Some people post comments in support of the persecuted people but there are many who do not show any response. They are indifferent. As human beings, such people may have a sympathetic heart but for some unknown reason keep themselves away from involvement in such issues. But this indifference against injustice and violation can encourage perpetrators. We just need to raise our voice against injustice. That’s what matters.
Let’s make a resolution this year that we shall raise our voice against persecution and injustice of all kinds and forms. We shall not keep silent. This resolution does not require us to come out on the street to join a demonstration. It only demands that we show our disapproval of any inhumane attitude. This resolution is quite easy to follow and will not lead us to failure. By raising our voice against persecution and injustice we shall be able to bring an enormous change into society, community and overall environment. There will be joy and peace for all. Therefore, let’s resolve that from today we shall raise our voice against all forms of injustice.
Happy New Year! 2019
Mumtaz Shah
Sir thanks for the nice message for the new year. To work for the social justice and charity is not easy task. It requires commitment, faith, love and spirit of sacrifice. Let’s keep it in our priority list while making new year resolutions and promise to do best in our capacity. May God bless all of us.
Maurice Sahib, I agree with you that to work for persecuted and oppressed people is not an easy task. That’s why I say, make a resolve that is easy to achieve such as writing supportive comments whenever we find any post on social media that displays injustice and violation of human rights. We can share it further and sign online petitions. These small, little gestures bring tremendous change in overall socio-political environment. Thanks for your comments. Blessings of New Year.
Mumtaz Shah, Thanks for shearing the love and concerns through your wonderful views for the oppressed, the poors and the neglected people of the world.
It’s a great message for all mankind and the time to step a head forward for the sake of humanity.
On this New Year 2019, let’s start with an extra ordinary change in our life and attitude, and renew our commitment to the teachings and love of our Lord Jesus Christ by showing empathy with the deprived humanity all over the world.
Happy New Year.
Thanks Tony for your comments supporting the cause of poor, needy, marginalized, persecuted and oppressed people. I hope that we all, together, will keep this candle of the light of love moving. Blessings and joys of the New Year.
Shah Sahib your New Year message has really moved the human conscience and deeply touched the heart. We selfish beings confine our resolutions to our own profit and comfort ignoring our surrounding injustice discrimination oppression and poverty prevailing in our global community. Our faith and belief demands to raise our voice against all such social evils as did Our Messiah proclaimed and professed for all humaniy. Thanks for making the established elite and privileged society realize their role in supporting this great noble and humble human cause. Shah Sahib well done you gave a novel dimension to the old traditional term New Year Resolution in a broader wider and religiously obligatory perspective.New Year greetings.
Thanks Raymond Simon for your comprehensive comments. You have pointed one very important aspect of New Year’s resolutions I.e. that we make resolves to improve our life style. Well, not a bad thing. We need to improve our lives. But there are areas where we can work for the welfare of community and society. People forget that working to help others brings us twofold blessings. I am sure that this kind of thinking will bring improvement in the socio-political structure.
Beautifully expressed views. If each one of us does a little we will have done our part. I read it somewhere…God will ask you “Have you any wounds?, I will say no. God will say” Did you have nothing to fight for?”
You are absolutely right, Zakkia. If each one of us does a little bit of our part in raising our voice for the persecuted people, we can bring enormous change in the sio-political environment. Thanks for your comments.
