Imran Khan: Transforming Vision into Reality

Imran Khan has become the Prime Minister of Pakistan. A cricketer, with a charisma to transform his visions into reality. As a child he had the ability to form solid and concrete visions. That’s what he writes about himself. The Dawn newspaper, in its report of December 30, 2016 by Shazia Hassan, quotes Imran Khan saying: “With the right vision and the will to achieve it, any dream can be realised”.

Everybody dreams. It is an inborn characteristic. As we grow old we learn to form visions. A vision is to think something happening according to one’s desires. We make visions of what we want to achieve in our life. Some people have the skill and ability to form very solid and concrete visions. Mind experts claim that you are likely to achieve what you visualize. How successful you are in achieving what you visualize depends upon the intensity and clarity of your vision. The point worth noting is the feelings of taking part in the vision rather than sitting outside and watching the show. That’s daydreaming and is useless. What Imran did was not daydreaming but feeling and experiencing a vision. That’s what makes a difference.

Imran khan had a clear vision of a university in a far-flung under-developed Mianwali District. He followed the vision with faith and determination and succeeded in accomplishing the task. The same was true of his vision of the World Cup. He had a very clear vision of holding the world cup in his hands. He could feel the steps he was taking while running around in the cricket stadium holding the World Cup. His dream and vision were realized. He led his team to World Cup victory even though his team was on the point of being thrown out of the World Cup. How he won the World Cup is a tale of magic and dream.

When his mother died of cancer, he formed a vision of a cancer hospital where poor people would be treated free-of-cost. He also felt the pain of the poor people who were unable to afford the expensive treatment of the deadly disease. His vision of the hospital was so strong that he brushed aside the decision of the Board of Directors of the Hospital. He had perfect faith in his vision. Nothing could shake or break his vision. With his will and determination, he crossed all the obstacles. The Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital became a reality.

I remember the day when he decided to come into politics. He decided that he would free the nation of corruption and injustice. He named his political party, ‘Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf’ meaning the ‘Movement of Justice’. The odds were heavy and unsurpassable. His opponents were very experienced politicians. Despite all the odds, Imran Khan believed firmly in his vision. His vision of ‘Naya Pakistan’: The New Pakistan, was very concrete. He visualized himself as the Prime Minister of the country. Just as a winning captain, he had the firm faith of winning in the game of politics. He has played a very good game. I remember him saying in one of his interviews about his views of cricket. Khan said, ‘Always keep the opponent team under the carpet. Do not let them come up. Be determined to keep them under the carpet and you will always win”. That is what Imran Khan is: a visionary with faith and determination. He has always been a captain who lead his team to victory. All eyes are on him to see how he wins the game of ‘Naya Pakistan’. Looking at his past experiences, his determination and faith in sticking to his vision, I am confident he would come out as a victor in the game of building ‘The New Pakistan’. The day is not far away when there will be human rights and justice for all the citizens irrespective of class, colour or creed.

Imran Khan’s life experiences are the evidence that a solid and clear vision, with a firm determination and feelings that the vision is not a dream but a real episode, always transforms the desires into reality.
